St Mary’s Church – PCC Members

A brief introduction to us and our photos so you know who we are should you wish to ask us any questions about St Mary’s.

 Rev’d Dr. William Ingle Gillis – Priest in charge
I am originally from Texas & Georgia but have been in the UK since 1996, when I came to study in London.  I was ordained to the Anglican ministry in 2004 in Newport Cathedral.  I joined this parish in 2008 after serving four years in Rogiet.  In addition to parish duties, I train prospective clergy at St Michael’s College, Llandaff and serve on the Welsh Church’s Ethical Investment Advisory Board.
Ruth Micklethwait – Church warden
I have lived in the area since 1972 which I joined my husband to farm Penhein.  I joined the PCC ten years ago.
Glynis Croft – Church warden 
I have lived in the village for 26 years and am now retired.  I have been serving as church warden since 2007.
Yvonne Copestake – Secretary
I have been involved in the Church & the PCC since moving to the village.  I also sing in a local choir.
Suzanne Miller – Treasurer
I have been involved with the church finances since 2007 which also involves being part of the fundraising committee.  I have lived in the village for over 20 years and run my own Learning & Development business.

Jan Potter 
I moved to the village with my family in 1979.  The children have long since fled the nest and we now have three grandchildren, all of whom visit regularly.  I served as church warden for nine years and am still involved with the church on a daily basis opening it at 9am to dusk for anyone wishing to visit.
Heather Brogan
I have been involved with the church for over thirty years, ever since we arrived in the village, and am responsible for the church flower rota. In May 2014, I am helping to organise an Open Gardens Weekend in the village, as a fund raising venture for the church. I have also created a log of the gravestones in the churchyard. I am retired, having worked as a software diagnostician for twenty five years.
Geoff Brogan
I have lived in the village for over thirty years and have been a member of the PCC for the last ten years. I am a member of the Fundraising Committee. I am now retired, having spent forty years, in senior roles, in the Brewing and Transport Industries.
Nuala Butler
I have lived in the village for 27 years and joined the PCC in 2006.  I run a Counselling Centre, with my husband Chris, in Newport.
Andrew Miller - Maintenance
Having lived in the village since 2002 I have been a member of the PCC since 2007 where I am involved in the maintenance of the historic building.  I am a professional wedding photographer
